Natural Vegetable Tanned Leather
Vegetable tanned leather is a product of the Tuscan tanning tradition that has its roots in the past. It is a sustainable material as it is tanned using only 100% vegetable substances, therefore it does not contain chromium or other chemicals that are harmful to the environment and humans. Vegetable leather improves over time by absorbing the characteristics of life which give the leather uniqueness and resistance.
Wet Blue & Wet White Leather
Mapel also deals with the trade of intermediate products such as Wet-Blue and Wet-White leathers. Wet Blue and Wet White leathers are part of a more complex tanning process which sees the leather go through different processing phases. One of these phases is precisely the pre-tanning from which we obtain this type of products that can be traded.
Wet Salted Bellies
The choice of raw hides plays a fundamental role in the tanning process. Mapel today represents the largest exporter of wet salted cow and bull bellies, trimmings and heads of untanned leather with hundreds of containers exported every year.
